ACF PRESS RELEASE ON NIGER CRISIS: TIMELY & COMMENDABLE

As ACF Calls for Dialogue on Niger Crisis and, their Views should be Commended - Haruna Abubakar Bebeji 
In the midst of the ongoing political crisis in Niger Republic, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has emerged as a strong voice for dialogue and peace. In a recent press release, the ACF has called for the lifting of economic sanctions against Niger Republic and emphasized the need for more dialogue to prevent further escalation of the crisis.

The ACF, has shown great consideration for the plight of Northern Nigeria and, by extension, Nigeria as a whole. Their stance on the Niger crisis reflects their commitment to representing the interests of the North and promoting peaceful resolutions.

The ACF has strongly condemned the coup in Niger and demanded the safety of President Mohamed Bazoum and his government. Recognizing the historical ties between Nigeria and Niger, the ACF believes that dialogue remains the best option to avoid further conflict in the West African sub-region.

In their press release, the ACF has made several recommendations to address the crisis. They urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to review the situation and restore full dialogue with the Nigerien military junta by lifting economic sanctions. The ACF also calls for a cautious approach, considering the potential impact on neighboring countries such as Algeria, Libya, and Chad. They commend the Northern Senators Forum for rejecting the use of force against Niger Republic and emphasize the importance of peaceful resolution.

The ACF further calls on the Nigerian government to intensify efforts towards peaceful, political, and diplomatic solutions. They stress the need to restore the supply of electricity to Niger Republic and open borders for the free flow of people and goods. The ACF also asks the government to suspend all sanctions and restrictions imposed on Niger Republic in response to international calls.

They have called for dialogue, recognized the potential consequences of military aggression, and urged restraint.
