ISLAM'S CALL FOR LOVE PEACE & TOLERANCE: AHMET ALLUS' SHINING EXAMPLE

A Muslim's Call for Love, Peace, and Tolerance: A Lesson for All Religions - Haruna Abubakar Bebeji 
In a world where religious tensions seem to be escalating and acts of provocation and hate continue to make headlines, it is refreshing and inspiring to see individuals who choose to lead by example, promoting love, peace, and tolerance. One such individual is Ahmet Allus, a Syrian Muslim who recently made headlines for his courageous decision not to burn the Torah and the Bible.

Allus had obtained permission from the Swedish police to burn these sacred books in front of the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm, in response to the burning of the Holy Quran. However, standing in front of journalists, Allus conveyed a powerful message that resonates with the teachings of Islam - a message of respect and reverence for all religions.
"I am a Muslim, and I cannot burn sacred and religious books," Allus emphatically stated. By refusing to engage in the same provocative acts that have caused deep pain and anger, he demonstrated his commitment to practicing the values that his faith teaches him.

In light of recent incidents, such as the burning of the Quran under police protection in Sweden, it is clear that an important distinction must be made between freedom of expression and hate crimes. Allus rightly highlights this, stating, "Burning the Quran and other religious books should be considered a hate crime."

His decision not to burn the Torah and the Bible draws attention to the need for increased understanding, dialogue, and respect among different religious groups. It reminds us that regardless of our belief systems, we are all custodians of our sacred texts. These books hold enormous significance to billions of people around the world, and they should be treated with the utmost reverence.
Allus's actions speak volumes about the beauty of Islam and the values it promotes. Love, peace, and tolerance, it is clear, are fundamental tenets of the faith. By choosing not to engage in acts of violence or hatred, he sets an example for Muslims and adherents of other religions alike.
