WITH TINUBU AS PRESIDENT, NIGERIA CAN PROSPER LIKE NEVER BEFORE - Haruna Abubakar Bebeji

May 29 is a remarkable day for Nigeria's Democracy. It is a day which after every four or eight years that Nigerians do witness a transition of government, it is a day the country wears a brand new shirt that carries all the ethnic groups, genders and different religions followers in the country along without prejudice.
On Monday, May 29, 2023, Nigerians witnessed the inauguration of a new President in person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; a president that has promised not to squander the mandate Nigerians gave him because it was a dream he has spent his life perfecting.
The inauguration of the new president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has brought a sense of hope and optimism to the country. A veteran politician, Tinubu's career spans a period of nearly thirty years. During this time, many Nigerians have come to recognize him as an experienced and competent leader.
Now that he has been sworn-in to the highest office in the country, many people are hoping that Tinubu will bring the same qualities to the position of president and help make Nigeria great again. Here is why I think Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do just that.
First, Tinubu has an impressive record of governance. As the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, he was credited with instituting several reforms that significantly improved the quality of life for the people of the state. He introduced affordable housing initiatives, increased health care access, and created a transportation system that made it easier for citizens to move around the city. Furthermore, Tinubu helped improve infrastructure and laid the groundwork for economic growth. He oversaw significant improvements in the state's infrastructure, including the construction of new roads, bridges, and public transportation systems. He also implemented policies to improve education, healthcare, and job creation, which have had a lasting impact on the state.
Secondly, Tinubu has demonstrated a commitment to democracy and the rule of law. He played a key role in the formation of the APC, a political party that has brought together various opposition groups to form a viable alternative to the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). Under his leadership, the APC has won several states and national elections, and has become a major force in Nigerian politics.
Thirdly, Tinubu has a deep understanding of Nigeria's political and economic landscape. He has been involved in Nigerian politics for over three decades, and has built strong relationships with political leaders and business people across the country. This experience and network will be invaluable in navigating the complex challenges that Nigeria faces, from insecurity and corruption to economic development and social welfare.
Fourthly, Tinubu has shown a willingness to listen to and engage with different groups and opinions. He has been a vocal advocate for the rights of minorities, and has worked to build bridges between different ethnic and religious groups in Nigeria. He has also been open to criticism and feedback, and has shown a willingness to adapt his policies in response to changing circumstances.
Moreover, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the leadership, experience, and vision necessary to make a good president for Nigeria.
As a former Governor of most cosmopolitan State in Nigeria, Lagos State has the highest concentration and representation of Nigerians in her different ethnicity and religious composition, and for succeeding back then as a Governor, Ahmed Tinubu has already built the required governance capacity for a complex Nigeria.
President Tinubu is a bridge builder across regional, ethnic and religious lines that is capable of uniting the country. He is an exceptional manager of people and resources and I have no doubt that he will institute a new concept of governance and new agenda of sustainable development, provide effective leadership and provide solutions to the numerous challenges confronting the nation by reviving manufacturing industries and increasing investments in vital infrastructures.
Going by his antecedents, President Tinubu is a leader with a knack for headhunting the best of brains and those with the requisite competence and capacity to pilot the affairs of key government establishments, that is why he has chosen Sen. Kashim Shettima as his Vice.
Amidst insecurity and insurgency, we know what Kashim Shettima did in Borno State when he was a Governor and with him as the Vice President, I believe is a new dawn for Nigeria and the duo will promote inclusivity in governance for the national good.
I am very optimistic that Nigeria will be better under Tinubu and Shettima because they are all prepared for the tasks ahead of them and Nigeria will witness massive development through their policies and programmes within a short time. As a matter of fact, Tinubu's term in office could go down in history as the best we will ever had lately.
Right from the moment he was sworn-in, President Tinubu in his inaugural speech advanced in making Nigeria great again by walking the talk and addressing the pitfalls of his predecessors, by abolishing the controversial fuel subsidy regime. Recall, President Tinubu during his campaigns has already said he wants to remove subsidy and that makes it easy for him to remove subsidy.
No doubt the removal of fuel subsidy will simultaneously lay the pathway for Nigeria's transition to prosperity and greatness. And with God’s help, and the support of Nigerians, Tinubu and Shettima will make Nigeria powerful again, wealthy again, strong again, proud again, safe again and they will Make Nigeria Great Again.
It is on this note that I will like to call on Nigerians to support the administration of President Tinubu, irrespective of party affiliations, so that out country will be great again!
