2023 Election: Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi denies endorsing Atiku

With two days to the 2023 general election, the revered Islamic Scholar, Sheikh, Dahiru Usman Bauchi on Thursday denied endorsing Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the poll.

In a statement he issued on Thursday, Sheikh Bauchi, through his Spokesman Ibrahim Dahiru Usman, urged Nigerians to vote responsibly during the upcoming elections.

According to Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi: “Followers, in the run-up to the 2023 elections, I implore you not to be swayed by mischievous statements, supposedly from me.

“We have come across some random and unauthorized communications making the rounds that have been ‘stitched together’ by unscrupulous individuals who are unaware that by virtue of our Leader Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, he will not endorse two different candidates of different political parties in same election.

He said the purported video going round that our Leader, Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has endorsed Atiku Abubakar of PDP was an an old clip from 2019 and said he will never change his earlier statement.

“I will never ask you to cast your vote for two different candidates in the same poll. Even though I will not compel you to vote for a particular candidate, but is my duty to advise you to be mindful, such that whomever you vote for will set us on our way to a purposeful and prosperous Nigeria, and for me that candidate is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC" according to the Sheikh.

The clergyman emphasised the need for a leader with the right values who would ensure the development and growth of Nigerians and he believed Bola Tinubu has those values, according to Ibrahim Dahiru Usman.
